In a legal paternity test, your samples need to be collected by a trained professional who does not have any interest in the outcome of the test. Usually this is done at a clinic or laboratory. You will have to present proof of your identity, and the child’s legal guardian must sign the consent form for the child to be tested. We also recommend the mother’s participation in a legal test, because some courts may require the mother to participate.
